<br />Item No: 09A <br />Meeting Date: April 28, 2003 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: James Ericson, Acting City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Pawnshop Ordinances Public Hearing <br /> <br />Introduction: <br /> <br />The Planning Commission is nearing the end of their task to draft ordinances relating to the <br />zoning and regulation of Pawnshops in Mounds View. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br />Because it appeared as though the Planning Commission was going to complete their task at <br />their last meeting, staff set and published a public hearing notice for the ordinances, the <br />public hearing for which would have been today. Staff often sets public hearing notices in <br />advance of Planning Commission approval due to the length of time needed for publication <br />and the typical time limitations in planning cases. <br /> <br />The Planning Commission is anticipated to take action on the ordinances at their May 7, <br />2003 meeting. Accordingly, the Public Hearing will need to be delayed until the first <br />Council meeting after May 7, 2003, which is May 12, 2003. <br /> <br />No attachments have been included with this report. (All of you do however have the <br />Planning Commission materials which include the latest versions of the ordinances.) <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the Council open the Public Hearing that had been advertised to <br />consider the Pawnshop ordinances and immediately continue the public hearing until <br />May 12, 2003. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />_____________________________________ <br />James Ericson <br />Interim City Clerk/Administrator <br />
