Mounds View City Council June 9, 2003 <br />Regular Meeting Page 18 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Council Member Gunn indicated that she had been told that one of the candidates has already 2 <br />dropped out and she fears that the City will lose more candidates if this is pushed out. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Council Member Marty indicated that the interviews were not held last weekend because one 5 <br />Council Member was out of town but they are scheduled for this weekend when he will be out of 6 <br />town. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Mayor Linke indicated that Council made an accommodation for Council Member Marty 9 <br />because he was not available on May 30, 2003 and was trying to afford the same accommodation 10 <br />to other Council Members. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Council Member Stigney indicated that he feels that as an elected official this is one of the jobs 13 <br />that has to be done and it is hard for him to imagine that there are not two nights in a week where 14 <br />everyone can attend. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Council Member Marty indicated the issue is that they have to be consecutive because someone 17 <br />is coming in from out of state. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Mayor Linke indicated that the City is paying to bring someone in for the interview from out of 20 <br />state and needs to consider that when doing the scheduling. He also commented that doing the 21 <br />interviews on a Friday night and Saturday would mean that candidates only have to take one day 22 <br />off not two. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Council Member Stigney had no report. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Council Member Gunn had no report. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Mayor Linke indicated that he presented the proclamation to Spring Lake Park at its Tower Days 29 <br />celebration. He also commented that he was challenged to a pie eating contest by the Mayor of 30 <br />Spring Lake Park and lost. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Mayor Linke indicated he received an email from Commissioner McCarty resigning from the 33 <br />Police Civil Service Commission and asked that Council accept his resignation. 34 <br /> 35 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Linke/Marty. To Accept the Resignation of Duane McCarty from the 36 <br />Police Civil Service Commission. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Mayor Linke asked whether Council was interested in posting signs on City-owned property that 41 <br />guns are not welcome on public property in the City of Mounds View. He then suggested 42 <br />making signs, laminating them and posting them. 43 <br /> 44
