Mounds View City Council June 23, 2003 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br />Mayor Linke indicated he meant both this one and the next and noted the Council had already cut 1 <br />$30,000 to $40,000. He further commented that once the new administrator is in place the 2 <br />budget discussions would commence. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Mr. Jahnke asked whether the candidate accepted the position. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Mayor Linke indicated that Kurt Ulrich had tentatively accepted the position and Council needs 7 <br />to negotiate the salary and benefits. He then indicated that Mr. Ulrich had been the City 8 <br />Administrator in Champlin but currently is working for the DNR. 9 <br /> 10 <br />David Vinkstra of 3000 County Road H2 asked if there was a plan by the Planning Commission 11 <br />to put in a bunch of housing. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Mayor Linke indicated there is land at the intersection of H2 and Spring Lake Road that is owned 14 <br />by the City and a resident that is being considered for a residential development. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Mr. Vinkstra indicated that he is not sure how the plan he heard of that goes over the pond would 17 <br />work and noted that the area is very soft and wet and he cannot believe that basements would 18 <br />work there. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Council Member Marty arrived at 7:07 p.m. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Mayor Linke indicated that soil borings were being done to determine the condition of the soil. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Mr. Vinkstra asked if an environmental impact study had been done. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Mayor Linke indicated that there had not been an environmental impact study. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Mr. Vinkstra indicated that there is abundant wildlife in the area that he and his neighbors enjoy. 29 <br />He then suggested putting in a walking path so the rest of the community could enjoy the 30 <br />wildlife. 31 <br /> 32 <br />6.
