<br />Item No: 9 <br />Meeting Date: March 3, 2003 <br />Type of Business: Worksession <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: James Ericson, Acting City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Discuss Membership Benefits of the Association of <br />Metropolitan Municipalities (AMM) <br /> <br />Introduction: <br /> <br />Mayor Linke requested that this item be added to the worksession agenda for discussion. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br />The City discontinued its membership with AMM in 2002. It is my recollection that the <br />action was taken not due to a dissatisfaction with the organization but rather a means to <br />reduce budgeted expenditures. I have contacted the Association and the Council has <br />been provided with the Association’s information at a previous meeting. The cost to the <br />City to join AMM would be $3,943. (If you no longer have the AMM materials, let me <br />know beforehand and I will make a photocopy for you.) <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Discuss the possibility of reestablishing a membership with the AMM. If the Council <br />would like to re-establish its membership, I will ask Mr. Gene Ranieri, AMM’s Executive <br />Director, if the amount can be prorated to reflect the actual number of months the City <br />would be a member in 2003. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />_____________________________________ <br />James Ericson <br />Interim City Clerk/Administrator <br />
