This upgrade was not included in the 2002 budget for the Community Center. It
was anticipated that the City would budget for the new Windows software when it
became available. What wasn’t anticipated was the large disparity in the software
price from the promotional new release cost of only $2,025 versus the normal
cost of $6,000.

An account within the Community Center budget would be utilized as the funding
source to purchase the new Windows based computer software to operate the
HVAC system at the Community Center. Because there is no guarantee that
there will be future reductions in price, staff recommends taking advantage of the
significant price reduction at this time.

Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the City Council approve the purchase of a Windows
based computer software to operate the HVAC system at the Community Center
at a cost of $2,025.

Respectfully Submitted,

Greg Lee, Director of Public Works
