RESOLUTION NO. 5750 <br />APPROVING THE PURCHASE OF A REPLACEMENT UTILITY TRUCK FOR <br />THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on March 25, 2002, a City owned 2000 F-250 utility truck was <br />involved in an accident whereby the cost to repair the damage was greater than <br />the value of the vehicle and was therefore “totaled”; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City carries a $10,000 deductible on this vehicle; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City’s insurance claims adjustor contacted the City with <br />the following quotes and options: <br /> <br />1. Sell the truck, with the utility box, for $20,500 with a $10,000 <br />deductible. <br />2. Remove the utility box from the truck, replace it with a factory box (it <br />has been stored in cold storage), and sell the truck for $20,000 with a <br />$10,000 deductible. <br /> ; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Option 2 is in the City best interest; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the damaged truck can be replaced with a 2002 Ford F-250 <br />Extended Cab. This truck would be purchased under state contract. Thus it <br />would forego the requirement to acquire additional bids; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the state contract bid for a 2002 F-250 Extended Cab from <br />Superior Ford is $20,737.00 until April 24, 2002; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, funds to replace this vehicle which includes the difference in <br />the sale amount of the damaged truck and the cost of the replacement truck, and <br />the payment of the insurance deductible will be derived from the Contingency <br />Account of the Water Infrastructure and Equipment Maintenance Department of <br />the Enterprise Fund (700-4823-9100); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, there is currently $15,000 in available funds in this account; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, THAT the Mounds View City <br />Council does hereby approve the purchase of a 2002 F-250 Extended Cab from <br />Superior Ford under state contract in the amount of $20,737.00. <br />
