At that time the City Council budgeted for a full-time position but agreed to review <br />the position at a later point. The position has always been a halftime position, however <br />finance records indicate that the actual hours worked have exceeded 20 hours per week. <br />Staff met with members of the Cable Commission last week to review the job description <br />and seek their input for this position. The Commission’s recommended changes have <br />been included in the job description before you this evening. <br /> <br />Other issues the Commission discussed include: <br /> <br />• Job description <br />• Full-time vs. part-time <br />• Time line <br />• Process <br /> <br />After considerable discussion the consensus was to maintain the position on a part-time <br />basis due to financial constraints and seek the most qualified candidate. <br /> <br />Attached for your convenience is a copy of the job description, with the suggested changes <br />for your review. <br /> <br />Once the job description is approved, staff will have it pointed and the position will be <br />advertised. <br /> <br />Other items for consideration: <br /> <br />It has been brought to my attention that the Cable Operator’s position has not received any <br />kind of increase since August of 2000. Staff is unclear how wages were determined for <br />this position because there is no job description. With City Council direction staff would <br />like to create a job description for your review and approval. Additionally, the rate of pay <br />would be reviewed in relation to the tasks associated with the postion. <br /> <br />
