Item No. 7A Type of Business: CB WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Greg Lee, Director of Public Works Item Title/Subject: Resolution No. 5876 County Road H2 Street Project – Change Order No. 2 Authorizing storm sewer improvements on County Road H and five miscellaneous items not included in the original bid Meeting Date: November 12, 2002 Background: In 2001, the City has received grant monies to construct a regional pond on the north side of County Road H, adjacent to the Edgewood Junior High School. As part of the project, a storm sewer system was added along County Road H. Also in 2001, the City revised and approved a driveway access to the Mermaid site off of County Road H. Discussion There are two general items staff wishes to add as a change order to the County Road H2 Street Improvement Project: storm sewer improvements on County Road H and five miscellaneous items not included in the original bid. Storm sewer improvements on County Road H The two projects that occurred in this area in 2001, unfortunately, were not well coordinated. Also, an assumption was made that the County was going to change the roadway grades of County Road H when they repaved it so as to established a new low point in the road. This did not happen. In hindsight, additional storm sewer catch basins should have been added to County Road H as part of the Regional Pond Project. Attached is a plan showing those proposed additional catch basins. The estimated cost of this item is $16,300.71. The funds to finance this will be derived from the Special Project Fund. Miscellaneous items not included in the original bid With a project the size and complexity of the County Road H2 Street Improvement Project, it is necessary to revise the plan or make adjustments in the field. Attached is a list of items and an explanation for each.
