Mounds View City Council November 12, 2002 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br />8. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS <br /> <br /> A. Temporary Position in the Community Development Department <br /> <br />Community Development Director Ericson indicated that his department is in need of temporary <br />assistance due to the resignation of Mr. Atkinson and the medical leave of the administrative <br />assistant. He then asked for authorization for a temporary worker to work 10 to 20 hours per <br />week to provide inspection support services and prepare reports and planning related research as <br />well as to maintain the Permit Works software system. <br /> <br />Director Ericson indicated he had someone in mind that could do the job and he is looking for <br />authorization to have the employee in place until the planning associate is replaced or alternative <br />staffing is arranged. The proposed salary would be $12.50 per hour. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Stigney. To Approve the Hiring of a Temporary Employee as <br />Requested by Staff. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br /> <br />9. REPORTS <br /> <br />Community Development Director Ericson reported that the property on Long Lake Road that he <br />was asked to look into has been sold and the closing is set for this week. He then said that the <br />realtor was asked to notify the City if there were any issues with the closing. He further indicated <br />that the property was listed for sale at $127,000 and sold at or near that price. <br /> <br />Director Ericson reported that the Perkins building is slated for demolition at the end of the week <br />or the beginning of the next week and noted that a demolition permit had been pulled. <br /> <br />Director Ericson reported that he and Mr. Lee met with Outdoor Promotions to discuss transit <br />shelters in the City at the expense of Outdoor Promotions. He then said that the sign code is <br />being reviewed and a draft agreement worked on which would be provided to Council in the <br />future. <br /> <br />Director Ericson indicated the coalition summit meeting was scheduled for November 13, 2002 <br />at 5:00 p.m. at the New Brighton Family Service Center. <br /> <br />Director Ericson indicated that he has been working on the issues surrounding the property <br />located at 2402 County Road I. He then said that Staff is doing everything possible to ensure that <br />the development meets the City’s expectations and has been providing information to the <br />neighboring property owners to keep them apprised. <br /> <br />City Administrator Miller indicated that Mayor-Elect Linke had requested keys for City Hall. <br />She then said that the request was unusual so she checked with the City Attorney as well as the
