Council Member Stigney asked that the Resolution be read. Assistant City Administrator Reed indicated that Mary Berg is the recommended candidate and then provided information on her background. Assistant City Administrator Reed asked Council for authorization to amend the Resolution to include the banked vacation time of three weeks with annual accruals beginning at three weeks as was approved for Mr. Summer. Council Member Thomas indicated she would accept the amendment and asked that the Resolution be read. Assistant City Administrator Reed read Resolution 5895. Council Member Thomas asked if this candidate would have the same sick time as the police chief. Assistant City Administrator Reed indicated that banked sick time was not something discussed with this candidate. Council Member Quick accepted the amendment. Council Member Stigney said he opposes the motion and noted he also opposed the starting date as she would begin while the course is closed. Assistant City Administrator Reed indicated that Mr. Longville is working up to 10 hours weekly and the new person needs time to become familiar with the course while she has access to City Administrator Miller and Mr. Longville. Council Member Stigney said, “its absurd.” Council Member Marty asked who was on the interview panel when Mr. Longville was interviewed. Assistant City Administrator Reed indicated that she, the City Administrator, Mary Berg, and the golf operations manager from New Brighton were on the interview panel for Mr. Longville. Council Member Marty asked who interviewed Ms. Berg. Assistant City Administrator Reed indicated she, the City Administrator and the Community Development Director interviewed Ms. Berg.
