RAISING: The maintaining and breeding as a hobby or as a commercial enterprise any <br />animal defined herein. (Ord. 460, 4-24-89) <br />701.06: RAISING / KEEPING DOMESTIC OR FARM ANIMALS: <br /> <br />Subd. 1. Definitions: As used in this Section, the following words and terms shall have the <br /> meanings ascribed to them in this subdivision: <br /> <br /> a. KEEPING: Providing food, water, and shelter for domestic or farm animals. <br /> <br /> b. RAISING: The maintaining and breeding as a hobby or as a commercial <br /> enterprise any domestic or farm animal. <br /> <br />Subd. 2. Restrictions: It shall be lawful to keep or raise not more than two (2) animals, as herein <br />defined, on the private property of the owner of said animals, except where such animals <br />shall constitute a public nuisance. <br /> <br />Subd. 3. Investigation of Complaints: It shall be the duty of the Police Department to investigate <br />all complaints submitted to the Council, and if, after investigation, there appears to be a <br />violation of this Chapter, the investigating officer shall sign a complaint. (Ord. 460, 4-24-89) <br /> <br />Subd. 2. Nuisance Declared: It is hereby declared to be unlawful and a public nuisance affecting <br /> the public peace, safety, and welfare for an owner within the city to keep or raise any <br /> farm animal unless the animal is currently being kept or raised on the date of <br /> the enactment of the ordinance. <br /> <br />Subd. 3. Restrictions: It is unlawful for a dog owner to keep or raise more than two (2) dogs <br /> except as allowed under 701.04 (h) “Kennels.” It is unlawful to keep or raise a domestic <br /> or farm animal if it creates a public nuisance and adversely affects the public health <br /> and welfare. <br /> <br />Subd. 4. Investigation of Complaints: It shall be the duty of the Community Service Officer and <br /> the Police Department to investigate all complaints submitted to the Council regarding <br /> domestic or farm animals. After investigation, if there appears to be a violation of <br /> this Chapter, the investigating officer shall issue a citation. <br />701.06 701.06 <br /> <br />701.06: WILD ANIMALS: <br /> <br />Subd. 1.
