Mounds View City Council Page Two
0 Regular Meeting February 14, 1994
Mayor Linke asked if there were any items the Council desired removed
from the Consent Agenda. There were no items removed.
MOTION/SECOND: Wuori/Blanchard to Adopt the Consent Agenda as presented.
VOTE: 4 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried
RESIDENTS REQUESTS AND COMMENTS FROM THE FLOOR
Mr. Bill Frits, 8072 Long Lake Road, stated his concern regarding the
plowing and snow removal on Long Lake Road. Mr. Frits stated that the
plow doesn't come within three feet of the curb. Mr. Frits stated that
each time the plow goes by he has to shovel out his mailbox. Frits
stated that there also is a problem if the City removes this area of snow
because it throws it onto the sidewalk and then, the City has to come
back and clear the sidewalk. There is not enough room to store the snow
on the boulevard area.
Mayor Linke stated that when the City plows he never has to shovel out
his mailbox. The problem is the County is not getting close enough to
the curb.
• Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, stated that there has been active
discussions regarding the City taking over the plowing the County roads
within the City.
Mayor Linke stated that it is probably time to get tough with the County
and discuss with them their reasoning for not plowing to the curb.
Mr. Frits stated that his other concern was the sand and salt being used
on the roadways which is thrown up onto the new boulevard sod and his new
concrete driveway. Frits stated that the City assured him that the salt
content is low, but at a warm temperature it melts the snow very quickly
and—tris indicates that there i a—g eat dea-1 of salt—in t ie--sand
mixture. Mr. Frits indicated that this salt is not recommended for use
on new concrete for two years and that the sod on the boulevard will also
be killed by the salt. Frits stated that to replace this sod would cost
a great deal of money.
Councilmember Blanchard stated that her experience with snowplowing of
Groveland Road is that the plow is not coming within three feet of her
mailbox either and that every time the plow comes by she has to have the
mailbox shoveled out. Groveland is a City-plowed road.
PUBLIC HEARINGS
There were no public hearings scheduled for this meeting.
