Consideration of Award of Golf Course Construction Bid <br /> Mary Saarion, Director of Parks, Recreation and Forestry introduced <br /> Paul Miller, Design Associate with William, Gill and Associates to <br /> present the information on the bid award for the contractor of the <br /> Mounds View Golf Links and Practice Center. Mr. Miller reported <br /> that seven bids had been received and that Veit Companies was the <br /> low bidder. Veit is ready to begin as soon as the bid is awarded. <br /> Miller further reported that Veit has a good reputation and good <br /> references and experience. <br /> MOTION/SECOND: Trude/Quick to Award the Low Bid to Veit Companies, <br /> Inc. for the Construction of the Golf Course and to Authorize Staff <br /> to Execute a Contract with Veit Companies, Inc. for the Construction <br /> of the Golf Course Bid <br /> VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> Councilmember Trude stated that in reviewing the golf course <br /> documents she found one item that she wanted to bring to the <br /> attention of the other Councilmembers and the public for disclosure <br /> reasons. Trude stated that she interpreted a portion of the <br /> Prospectus to mean that the City could end up paying salaries and <br /> maintenance of the golf course. Trude stated that she did not want <br /> -t-over-s-teed to the—taxpayers that the—golf—course—presented—no <br /> risks to them. <br /> VOTE: 4 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br /> B. Consideration of Adoption of Resolution Nos. 4530 and 4531 for the <br /> ISTEA Grant <br /> Mary Saarion, Director of Parks, Recreation and Forestry, explained <br /> that she had completed dual grant applications for 80% federal <br /> funding of a pedestrian bridge over Highway 10 connecting the Long <br /> Lake Road sidewalk. Saarion further explained that the engineering <br /> plan of the bridge would provide for a switchback ramp leading from <br /> the bridge connecting to Long Lake Road on the south side of Highway <br /> 10 and a spiral ramp located on the north side of Highway 10 with a <br /> trail leading to the Long Lake Road sidewalk. <br />
