Mounds View Planning Commission August 21, 2002
Regular Meeting Page 7
________________________________________________________________________

Craig Life indicated the distance is 14 feet one inch.

Chair Stevenson indicated he would like to add something to the Resolution to control the design
of the roof line. He then said that there are some additions that look unsightly and awkward
because the City did nothing to control and require that the rooflines match.

Commissioner Hegland said he would like to see elevations.

Chair Stevenson opened the public hearing at 7:39 p.m.

Craig Life of 8436 Spring Lake Road indicated he had basic plans drawn and could provide
those to the Commission for review. He then said that he would not want to build anything that
would look awkward.

Chair Stevenson said he would like to see the plans further along in the process.

Commissioner Miller asked what the addition would be.

Mr. Life indicated it would be a mudroom attaching the house to the garage on the ground level
and upstairs it is another room.

Commissioner Scotch asked if it is going all the way back to the deck portion.

Mr. Life indicated it would be in line with the house coming back.

Chair Stevenson asked if the wood fence would be kept between the neighbors and garage.

Mr. Life indicated that fence would be removed and replaced with something else.

Chair Stevenson indicated that the neighbor’s garage is closer to the property line not the living
space. He then asked staff to draft a resolution for approval.

Commissioner Miller asked the width of the lot.

Planner Atkinson indicated the lot is approximately 75 feet wide.

Commissioner Hegland asked what the existing square footage of the house is.

Mr. Life indicated that currently there is approximately 1,100 square feet and the addition would
be about 700 to 800 square feet.

The Commission asked for the specific square footage numbers for the next meeting.
