Mounds View Planning Commission March 7, 2001
Regular Meeting Page 11
________________________________________________________________________

6. Special Planning Case No. SP-082-00

Community Development Director Ericson explained this is the fourth comprehensive revision
of the sign code. He then reviewed the changes made to this revision of the code with the
Commission to make sure the changes accurately reflected what was discussed. He also
discussed the various changes to the code the City Attorney had recommended.

It was the consent of the Commission to change the language of the code slightly to require that
an inflatable device be no more than 30 feet above the surface to which it is attached.

It was the consent of the Commission to hold a public hearing on April 4, 2001 to discuss
changes to the sign code.
________________________________________________________________________

7. Staff Reports

a. Previous Council Action

Community Development Director Ericson noted Council discussed at the work session
Pinewood Elementary, the building on Highway 10 and the concerns raised by Mr. Winiecki as
to setbacks, and potential long range redevelopment on Highway 10.

b. Highway 10 Project Update, Steering Committee

Community Development Director Ericson reported the City has received six (6) proposals from
various firms for the Highway 10 redevelopment project. Three of those firms were selected to
be interviewed and staff narrowed the list down to one firm that staff feels is best suited for the
project. He then noted this will be a year long process and that Council will have a Resolution
before it to award that bid at the next meeting.

Director Ericson stated he is looking for three people for the Highway 10 Redevelopment
Steering Committee stating Commissioners Johnson and Stevenson had expressed an interest in
serving on the Committee. He then noted there is one meeting a month on a Wednesday and that
there will be three representatives from each committee along with some members of the
business community, and the Ramsey County Traffic Engineer.

c. Cancellation of the March 21, 2001 Meeting

Community Development Director Ericson noted that, as there is unfinished business for the
March 21, 2001 meeting it will not be cancelled. He then noted he will be out of town and, as
such, there will not be much information available ahead of the meeting for Commissioners to
review.
