~ MOUND3 VIEW PLANNING COMAfISSION <br />RL•'SOLUL`lON NQ. 57-82 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAN,SEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTIOt2 RECOMMEND7NG APPROVAL OF A CONbITIONAL USE <br />PEAMIT FOR TNE CONVERSION OF EDGEWOOD J'UNIOR HIGH <br />SCHOOL TO A COMMUNITY RESOUACE CENTER AND <br />VARIANCE FOR TII£ RGDUCEU NUMBEI2 OF kAl2XTNG SPACES <br />WHEREAS, tho Muunds View School District has decicled to <br />closo Cdgewood Junior uigh School at the end of the 1981-1982 <br />achool yeart and <br />WIIERLAS, the Cchool Distriot intends to preserve the <br />building for future educational uset and <br />, <br />WHEREAS, s community reaource center is in operation~itt the <br />City of New Brighton~ and ~ <br />WHER6AS~ the School pistrict viishes to mairitain and expand <br />its present activitie3 which now exist at the New arightoh faaility, <br />j ~'~ although space is somewhat limited at thie facility~ and <br />~-~ <br />WIiCR~A5, ~dyawood Junicr High Schaol is an ideal loc~ti.on for <br />the aatlyities proposed by the School DiRkriat~ 8hd ^ <br />WFiEREAS, a conditional use permit ia required for a community <br />canter in an R-i residential'~districtJ and <br />hH~RGAS, Chapter 40 of the Municipal Code identifies various <br />requirements for the ~onditional use permit, one of which is pnrking; <br />and , <br />WHEREAS, the existing 161 panking sp>ces (following restsiping) <br />do not conEorm tu Chapter 40 requirements fnr oommuni.ty ~enters which <br />stabes that 843 spaces be provided; and <br />WEtEREAS, a study has been conducted on tho pazkinq situatian <br />ak exiating Edqewood Junior HigF. School to det3rminr.. exieting and <br />future parking requirementaJ and <br />WHEREAS, the exi3ting 140 epaces can be expanded to 161 by <br />rastriping th4 present parking arr,aai and <br />i <br />+ <br />~ <br />I U <br />WHEREA3, an additional 82 apaces can be provided on-site should <br />future naed atisce; and <br />WHEREA9, t.he School Dislzict ha8 determined that the propoaed <br />~ise ae a community center woul~ allow future reconversion of the <br />build?ng usu to a school.= and <br />
