Mounds View City Council January 23, 1989 <br />Regular Meeting Page Nine <br />-------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />Attorney Karney advised that after checking Minnesota <br />Statutes, Sec. 05, that after 30 days the Judge would <br />be required to write a letter to the Council for a <br />tirne extension to go beyond the 30 days. He added <br />he could see no other requirements, other than being <br />a resident. He stated the time for making appoint- <br />ments had passed, and the Council could make a <br />decision on their own, and he offered to convey that <br />in writing to the Judge. <br />Clerk/Administrator Pauley suggested the Council con- <br />vey their concerns to the Judge and ask for his <br />response. <br />Motion/Second: Hankner/Quick to direct Attorney <br />Karney to communicate with Judge Plunkett about the <br />Council's concern and intention to take action on <br />the appointments and further would like him to <br />forward the applications received to the Council. <br />4 ayes 0 nays <br />Clerk/Administrator Pauley reported the special <br />election to fill the vacant Council seat will be <br />April 11, with filings of affidavit of candidacy <br />• to open on January 31 and close on February 14. <br />He added that the filings require an individual <br />to come in and pay the $5 filing fee. <br />Clerk/Administrator Pauley reported he had received <br />a late notice from the League of Women Voters in <br />Blaine, who will be presenting a symposium on <br />January 25 at 7 PM at Blaine City Hall concerning <br />wetland issues. <br />Mr.Linke reported on recent actions taken at the <br />Ramsey County League meeting, asking for support of <br />a speed skating rink in Roseville. <br />Mayor Hankner replied the Council had recently <br />given their support for the speed skating rink. <br />i <br />Mayor Hankner adjourned the <br />8:52 <br />Motion Carried <br />18.
