Head Reports <br />Finance Director Brager reviewed the tax rates in <br />Mounds View and compared them to other suburban <br />communities in the area. The new tax capacity <br />method resulted in a reduction of 2.2 mils for 1989 <br />over 1988. He also presented overheads and reviewed <br />the percentages of where tax dollars go, as well as <br />reviewing the changes in two separate residents in <br />the City in the past year. <br />Mayor Hankner suggested the charts be published in <br />the City newsletter for the residents to review. <br />Mayor Hankner explained Sunnyside School is willing 11. Consideration <br />to do a good deal of publicity on recycling and of Grant to <br />they will be devoting a week in April to this topic, Sunnyside <br />and she requested Council authorization of a $375.00 Elementary <br />grant for the school, with the funds to be used for School <br />the cost of a speaker to come in and address the <br />students. <br />• Mayor Hankner stated she had talked somewhat to <br />Pinewood School about this but she has to get back <br />to them. There is $1,000 in the fund for youth <br />development, which is for community service type <br />activities with the students. <br />Councilmember Wuori suggested checking and seeing if <br />the speaker could also do Pinewood School. She <br />volunteered to contact the science teacher there <br />and try to coordinate this. <br />Motion/Second: Hankner/Blanchard to spend $375.00 <br />from Account No. 100-4100-390, for the recycling <br />project within the elementary schools, Sunnyside and <br />Pinewood. <br />4 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />It was the consensus of the Council that if the <br />speaker was not able to do both schools at the same <br />time, that the previous motion would be applicable to <br />Sunnyside School only. <br />Mayor Hankner stated she would find out the exact <br />date at Sunnyside and let Councilmember Wuori know <br />• so she can convey it to Pinewood. <br />
