The 1989 budget document was <br />submitted to the Government Finance Officers Assoc- <br />iation for consideration of a distinguished budget <br />award. The new computer system was installed in <br />February without any major problems. <br />The finance staff is working on preparing the 1988 <br />financial statements, and assisting the independent <br />audit firm. They are also working to improve the <br />quality of the City's finacial statements, to meet <br />generally accepted accounting principles. <br />The finance staff has begun preparation of the City's <br />long term financial plan, as well as preparation of <br />the 1990 budget, and they also assisted in the <br />selection of word processing software. <br />Park and Rec Director Saarion expanded on her <br />• earlier report, explaining the adaptive recreation <br />programs for children with disabilities, and she <br />thanked the groups that make contributions to these <br />programs. <br />Park and Rec Director Saarion reviewed who uses <br />the Random Park building, which is used extensively. <br />Bill Frits, 8072 Long Lake Road, reported the vacuum <br />cleaner at Random Park needs new bags. <br />Park and Rec Director Saarion replied they are working <br />on it, as there is a problem with the vacuum itself. <br />Public Works Director Minetor reviewed the recommenda- 10. The average daily use in the City is 1.5 to <br />1.75 million gallons, but during the summer it can <br />exceed 4 million gallons per day without restrictions. <br />
