M:\MasterFiles\1999 thru 2010\2001\City Council\Council Packets\02-12-2001 Council\Item 05D--Res 5528, Establishing a Tri-Cit Task Force--Kathleen Miller.doc
Item No.5D
Type of Business: CA
WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing;
CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business City of Mounds View Staff Report
To: Honorable Mayor and City Council
From: Kathleen Miller, City Administrator
Item Title/Subject: Resolution No. 5528 Establishing a Tri-City Task Force to
Study the Water Quality of Spring Lake
Date of Report: February 12, 2001

Background

Staff members and former Mayor, Dan Coughlin met with neighborhood representatives of
Spring Lake to discuss their concerns with officials from the DNR late last year. It was
determined during that meeting that the DNR would require some indication that the tree
cities involved, shared this concern before they would commit to any kind of involvement.
Staff met with the Administers from Fridley and Spring Lake Park to discuss what if any
involvement the Cities should commit to regarding this issue.

The attached resolution simple states that the three cities all acknowledge that a concern
exists. This does not commit the city to any kind of financial involvement.

Recommendation:

Staff recommends the City Council approve Resolution No. Establishing a Tri-City Task
Force to Study the Water Quality of Spring Lake.

Respectfully Submitted,

___________________________
Kathleen F. Miller
City Administrator
