Mounds View City Council February 12, 2001
Regular Meeting Page 7

Council Member Stigney asked if Rice Creek Watershed District would be contributing to the
funding of the pond.

Public Works Director Ulrich indicated he was told Rice Creek Watershed District had no funds
available to assist with the pond.

Council Member Stigney inquired as to whether Staff was currently seeking funds.

Public Works Director Ulrich explained that other than the initial conversation with Rice Creek
Staff has not sought funds.

Council Member Stigney requested Staff ask Rice Creek Watershed District to contribute funds
for the ponding project.

Public Works Director Ulrich indicated Staff would speak to Rice Creek Watershed District
concerning the ponding project.

Council Member Marty noted he had similar questions concerning the ponding issue but had
asked them before the meeting and was given the same explanation as Council Member Stigney
just received. He stated he was a little surprised at the bid and thinks it is a good bid. He also
stated that based on information from Staff it seems Rice Creek Watershed District officials have
told them the ponds are a proactive approach by the City. In light of that information, the City
should ask them to contribute funds to the ponding project. If they are not able to, the bid
appears to be a good bid.

MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Stigney.
