Clark, Chief of Police <br />Item Title/Subject: Standardizing Police Firearms <br />Date of Report: August 29, 2018 <br /> <br /> <br />STANDARDIZING POLICE FIREARMS – STATUS REPORT <br />Based on the Goals in the Annual Police Report, and as a budgeted item, the <br />Department has established a committee to developed criteria for standardized <br />firearms. The Department has tested numerous firearms with the participation of <br />the members of the agency. By survey, the list was narrowed to two firearms, <br />and the Department would like to begin processing for bids. <br /> <br />To update the Council, items considered during the process were safety features, <br />dependability, calibier, uniformity to other agencies, conformity to all size hands, <br />and the preferences of the members of the Department. This item will have <br />benefit to the Department in issues of vicarious liability, training, safety, and <br />control. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />It is requested that the Department continue with the standardization process and <br />place the items out for bid. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Respectfully Submitted, <br /> <br />___________________________ <br />William A.
