Ord. 679 Report <br />May 7, 2001 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br /> <br />MOUNDS VIEW PLANNING COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION NO. 651-00 <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE 679, <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 1008, “SIGN AND BILLBOARDS”; <br />SPECIAL PLANNING CASE SP-082-00 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, after a thorough and comprehensive review of Chapter 1008 of the <br />Municipal Code (“Signs and Billboards”), the Mounds View Planning Commission determined <br />that significant and extensive changes were necessary; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in its review, the Mounds View Planning Commission examined sign codes <br />from other cities and model sign code language from the American Planning Association as well <br />as the United States Sign Council Foundation; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, after six months of intensive review, the Mounds View Planning <br />Commission held a public hearing on April 4, 2001 to present the proposed changes to the <br />residential and business community and to seek comment and feedback; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mounds View Planning Commission has determined that proposed <br />changes represented in Ordinance 679 are necessary for the promotion and preservation of the <br />public health, safety, welfare and aesthetics of the community. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View Planning <br />Commission recommends to the Mounds View City Council adoption of proposed <br />Ordinance 679. <br /> <br />BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Planning Commission directs staff to forward <br />this resolution to the City Council prior to approval of the minutes. <br /> <br />Adopted this 18th day of April, 2001. <br /> <br /> <br />__________________________________________ <br />Gary Stevenson, Chairperson <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />__________________________________________ <br />James Ericson, Community Development Director <br />(SEAL)
