Item No: 4 <br />Meeting Date: May 7, 2001 <br />Type of Business: WK <br />WK: Work Session; PH: Public Hearing; <br />CA: Consent Agenda; CB: Council Business <br /> <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor & City Council <br />From: James Ericson, Community Development Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Discussion Regarding Proposed Changes to Municipal <br />Code Chapter 1002, Fire Code. <br />Date of Report: May 2, 2001 <br /> <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Kathi Osmonson, the City’s building inspector and fire marshal, has brought to our attention that <br />certain changes need to be made to Chapter 1002 of the City Code (Fire Code). <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br />I am attaching a copy of the proposed changes to the Fire Code and Kathi will be on hand to <br />address the changes. In summary, Section 1002.02 is changed to eliminate specific local <br />regulations replacing the language with a reference to the local fire chief establishing “local <br />regulations” which can be amended from time to time by the fire chief. <br /> <br />The other change of substance involves Section 1002.05 which states that the fire department <br />board of directors and the fire chief shall act as the local board of appeals. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Provide any feedback to staff regarding the proposed changes. These changes, unless otherwise <br />directed, will appear before the Council as Ordinance 681, with first and second reading scheduled <br />for May 14th and May 28th.
