Mounds View City Council November 13, 2000 <br />Regular Meeting Page 2 <br /> <br />B. Monday, October 23, 2000, City Council Minutes <br /> <br />Council Member Stigney requested the spelling of a resident’s name be changed from “Dody” to <br />“Doty”. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Stigney/Quick. To approve the Monday, October 23, 2000, City Council <br />Minutes with the noted change. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 3 Nays – 0 Abstain – 1 (Marty) Motion carried. <br /> <br />Council Member Marty abstained from voting as he was not present at the meeting. <br /> <br />5. SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />6. REPORTS <br /> <br />Council Member Marty commended all the candidates who ran for office for their efforts on the <br />campaign. <br /> <br />Council Member Marty reported the Cable Commission has obtained a new 14-event board to <br />replace the old seven-event board. This new piece of equipment will be able to be programmed <br />for a full week. The Cable Commission will attempt to sell the seven-event board to another City <br />as it is not completely outdated at this point. <br /> <br />Council Member Marty reported he had a meeting with the representative elect, the senator elect, <br />and Kathleen Miller, the City Administrator, to bring them up to speed on the issues currently <br />facing the City. Both elected officials were receptive to the needs of the City and pledged to <br />work with the City to move the issues along. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Marty/Quick. To direct the City Attorney to conduct an investigation into <br />current hiring processes to determine whether all applicable requirements of the City Code and <br />state law have been met; To develop written guidelines with the City Administrator for the hiring <br />and promotion processes for the Civil Service Commission; and To report back to the City <br />Council at the first possible City Council Meeting. <br /> <br />Council Member Stigney inquired as to whether the motion requests fell under the authority of <br />the City Attorney. <br /> <br />City Attorney Long indicated he would research the matter and report back to Council. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br />
