<br />cleanable. Easily cleanable, covered receptacles shall be provided for waste materials. Every
<br />lavatory facility shall be provided with an adequate supply of hand cleansing compound and
<br />single-service sanitary towels or hand-drying devices.
<br />(b) Skin infection. No person having any skin infection or other diseases of the skin shall be
<br />tattooed, pierced, scarred, branded or painted.
<br />(c) Sterilization and disposal of bio-hazardous materials. All needles and razor blades and
<br />other equipment used for piercing, scarring, branding or puncturing shall be individually pre-
<br />packaged, pre-sterilized and disposable. No such equipment shall be used on more than one
<br />customer. All bio-hazardous waste shall be disposed of in accordance with law, and disposal
<br />procedures shall be approved by the enforcement officer. Sterilizing solutions and methods
<br />may be used for the purpose of sterilizing instruments other than needles and razor blades.
<br />(d) Skin preparation procedures. The following procedures shall be used for skin
<br />preparation:
<br />(1) Operators shall wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water then dry them with
<br />a clean towel before and after each tattooing, branding, scarring, piercing or painting.
<br /> Specialists with skin infections of the hand shall not perform any tattooing, body
<br />piercing, body branding, body scarring or body painting services.
<br />(2) Whenever it is necessary to shave the skin, pre-packaged, pre-sterilized, disposable,
<br />razor blades shall be used.
<br />(3) The skin area to be tattooed, scarred, pierced, branded or painted shall be thoroughly
<br />cleaned with anti-bacterial germicidal soap, rinsed thoroughly with water, and
<br />sterilized with an antiseptic solution. Only single-service towels and wipes shall be
<br />used in the skin cleaning process.
<br />(4) After tattooing, piercing, scarring or branding, a sterile dressing must be applied to
<br />the tattooed, pierced or branded area.
<br />
<br />(e) Operating furniture. All tables, chairs, furniture, or area on which a patron receives a
<br />tattoo, any body piercing, body branding, body scarification or body painting shall be covered
<br />by single-service disposable paper or clean linens, or in the alternative, the table, chair, or
<br />furniture on which the patron receives a tattoo, body piercing, body scarring, body branding
<br />or body painting shall be impervious to moisture and shall be properly sanitized after each
<br />tattoo, body piercing, body branding, body scarring or body painting.
<br />
<br />(f) Towels. Every specialist shall provide single-service towels or wipes for each customer
<br />or person and such towels or wipes shall be stored and disposed of in an acceptable manner.
<br />
<br />(g) Coverings: The specialist shall require that the person who is receiving the tattoo, piercing,
<br />branding, scarring or painting will at all times have that person’s breasts, buttocks, anus and
