Item No: ___6C <br />Meeting Date: Nov 15, 2016 <br />Type of Business: Other Planning Activity <br /> <br /> <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Mounds View Planning Commission <br />From: Jon Sevald, City Planner/Supervisor <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 1080-17, Recommending Two Planning <br />Commission Liaison’s to serve on the Comprehensive Plan <br />Taskforce <br /> <br /> <br />Introduction <br />The Comprehensive Plan is a 20-year guide, establishing the City’s goals and policies for land <br />use and development. The Plan is updated every 10 years, and is intended to be consistent <br />with the Metropolitan Council’s regional plan (Thrive 2040), regarding regional investments in <br />sanitary sewer, mass-transit, affordable housing, and other topics. The City’s Comprehensive <br />Plan update will be significantly completed by spring 2018, reviewed by adjacent cities and <br />agencies, and submitted to the Metropolitan Council by December 31, 2018. <br /> <br />The Comprehensive Plan will be written by Staff and consultants. A Taskforce will be <br />assembled to review Goals and Policies, and maps. <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion <br />The Taskforce will consist of nine members, representing the following: <br /> <br />(1) City Council <br />(2) Planning & Zoning Commission <br />(2) Parks, Recreation & Forestry Commission <br />(2) Economic Development Commission <br />(2) At-Large Residents <br /> <br />The Taskforce will likely meet once or twice per month, January thru spring, on dates and times <br />to be determined by the Taskforce. All meetings will be open to the public and televised. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Staff requests that the Chair solicit interest from Commission members, and that the <br />Commission recommend two of its members to be appointed to the Taskforce. <br /> <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br />________________________ <br />Jon Sevald, AICP <br />City Planner/Supervisor
