Planning Commission Item 6A <br />September 21, 2016 <br />Page 2 <br />FYI: The City Council must have a 4/5's vote for approval of a Rezoning from <br />residential to commercial/industria14, and a 3/5's vote for all other action on a <br />recommendation by the Planning Commission.5 <br />5 Quorum (i.e. 2/3's of the "full" Planning Commission6) needed for the Board of <br />Adjustment to approve a variance. <br />2/3's Planning Commission meetings must end at or before 11:00 PM, unless 2/3's of <br />the members present agree to extend the meeting.? <br />If a quorum is not present: <br />If a quorum is not present, the Planning Commission cannot conduct official business, <br />such as conducting a Public Hearing, recommend action to the City Council, or approve <br />an appeal or variance, or approve meeting minutes. <br />If a quorum is not present, the Planning Commission can still convene an advertised <br />public meeting and accept public testimony for the record (not a Public Hearing). In this <br />case, the Chair, Vice -Chair, or a member agreed upon by those members present (if <br />Chair & Vice -Chair are absent) conducts the meeting.$ <br />A scheduled meeting may be canceled by the Chair, City Administrator or designee, if <br />there is no business, no quorum, or in case of inclement weather. If canceled, <br />notification will be given to the Commissioners and posted as required by State <br />Statutes. <br />Recommendation <br />No action is necessary.
