<br /> <br />MOUNDS VIEW PLANNING COMMISSION <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1022-15 <br /> <br /> <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF AN AMENDMENT TO <br />TITLE 1100, CHAPTERS 1102 AND 1106 OF THE MOUNDS VIEW ZONING CODE <br />TO ALLOW COLUMBARIA AT RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS; <br />SPECIAL PLANNING CASE 193-15 <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City staff has recommended that amendments be made to the <br />zoning code relating to columbaria at religious institutions; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission agrees with the City Staff <br />recommendation to allow columbaria on the properties of religious institutions as an <br />accessory use; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City staff has amended Chapter 1102.02 and Chapter 1106.03 of <br />the Mounds View City Code by deleting the stricken language and adding the <br />underlined text as follows: <br /> <br />1102.02: DEFINITIONS: The following words and terms, wherever they occur in this <br />Code, shall be defined as follows: <br /> <br />Subd. 17. COLUMBARIUM: A place for the usually public storage urns holding a <br />deceased’s cremated remains. Columbaria can be either free standing units, or part of a <br />mausoleum or another building. <br /> <br /> <br />1106.03: ACCESSORY USES: The following are permitted accessory uses in an R-1 <br />District: <br /> <br />Subd. 8. Columbarium as an accessory use to a religious institution, such as churches, <br />chapels, temples and synagogues; subject to the following conditions: <br /> <br />(a) Must not be constructed of brick. <br /> <br />(b) The combined square footage of all accessory buildings, including <br />columbaria, shall not exceed 1,800 square feet. <br /> <br />(c) Columbaria shall only be placed in a side yard or rear yard area.
