Mounds View Planning Commission November 7, 2012 <br />Regular Meeting Page 3 <br />________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />Dr. Michael Helgeson, CEO of Apple Tree Dental, thanked the Planning Commission for <br />considering his request this evening. Dr. Helgeson noted Apple Tree Dental has been in <br />operation for the past 27 years. He discussed the mobile dental programs offered by Apple Tree <br />Dental, noting these units worked to meet the dental needs of the elderly, disabled and young <br />children. He reviewed further the proposed expansion to the front of the building noting the <br />expanded vestibule would accommodate those in wheelchairs while expanding the elevator to <br />hold a full sized gurney. It was noted executive offices would be located on the second floor of <br />the building. Dr. Helgeson commented the building was a great fit for Apple Tree Dental. <br /> <br />Commissioner Smith questioned the amount of investment that was being made in the building. <br /> <br />Dr. Helgeson stated he was proposing to invest $4.5 million in the purchase and build-out for the <br />building and another $1.7 million for dental equipment. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cramblit inquired if the Coon Rapids location would remain in operation. <br /> <br />Dr. Helgeson explained the Coon Rapids location would remain open, along with all their other <br />sites. <br /> <br />Mr. Nelson reviewed the proposed elevations with the Commission. <br /> <br />Commissioner Miller noted this would be a great addition to the City of Mounds View. <br /> <br />MOTION/SECOND: Commissioner Meehlhause/Commissioner Smith. To approve Resolution <br />973-12, a Resolution Recommending Approval of a PUD Amendment; Planning Case No. <br />PA2012-001. <br /> <br /> Ayes – 6 Nays – 0 Motion carried. <br />______________________________________________________________________________ <br /> <br />6. Other Planning Activity <br /> <br />Associate Heller commented the Tires N More variance request would be discussed by the <br />Commission at the December 5, 2012 meeting. She noted the Commission would also be <br />reviewing Commissioner applications at the December 5th meeting as the group would need three <br />or four new members in January. <br /> <br />Associate Heller explained the Coventry Senior Living project was beginning. She discussed the <br />new Coventry Senior Living building in Maplewood, and encouraged the Commission to visit <br />this site as it was similar in size and scale to the proposed project in Mounds View. <br />______________________________________________________________________________
