Mounds View City Council Page Two <br />~egular Meeting April 26, 1993 <br />SPECIAL ORDER OF BUSINESS: <br />a. .Mayor Linke read Resolution No. 4364, Resolution of Appreciation <br />to the Members of the Regional Senior Center Task Force. <br />MOTIONJSECOND: Linke/Quick to adopt Resolution No. 4364, <br />Resolution of Appreciation to the Members of the Regional Senior <br />Center Task Force. <br />VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />Mayor Linke presented resolutions to Lulu Coury and Bill Woods <br />for their contribution to this Task Force and commended them for <br />their participation and dedication. <br />8i11 Woods thanked the Council and stated that he, as a member of <br />the Task Force, would like to be able to pursue this project to its <br />completion. Lulu Coury and Bill Woods thanked the City Council for <br />their resolutions of commendation. <br />Mayor Linke also presented Bill Woods and Lulu Coury with City <br />Appreciation Awards from the City commending them for their work with <br />• the Senior Center Task Force. <br />Mayor Linke stated that two other members of the Task Force, Jerry <br />Skelly, Sr. and Charlynn Robertson were unable to attend the meeting <br />but would be awarded their resolutions and plaques at the next <br />regular Council Meeting. <br />RESIDENTS REQUESTS AND COMMENTS FROM THE FLOOR <br />Bill Frits, 8072 Long Lake Road, stated that he had read in yesterday's <br />paper a story about an elderly northeast Minneapolis man who had been <br />stabbed to death in his home. Mr. Frits contends that the same thing <br />happened in Mounds View, but nothing had been said. <br />Mr. Frits stated that the Focus Newspaper reported that on October 14, 1992, <br />an elderly Mounds View man was tied up in his home and it took him 14 hours <br />to get loose, he was threatened with a shotgun and shots were fired in his <br />home, he has spent two weeks in-the hospital and now resides in a nursing <br />home unable to stand up. <br />Mr. Frits wanted to know who makes the decisions not to extradite the <br />persons who committed this crime. Mr. Frits then referred to an article in <br />the newspaper quoting Samantha Orduno, City Administrator, as saying Mounds <br />View uses its own prosecutors, not those from .Ramsey County. Mr. Frits <br />stated that Mounds View hires a lawyer for $50.00 per hour and that is why <br />•we get a lawyer that doesn't prosecute. Mr. Frits wanted to know who makes <br />
