Michele Severson, Administration Secretary, reviewed Staff Report No. <br />93-601C regarding a Charitable Gambling Application for a One-Day, Off- <br />.Site Lawful Gambling Permit. Severson reported that the Fridley Lion's <br />had submitted to the City an application to conduct a one-day, off-site <br />raffling event at the Bel-Rae Ballroom. This raffle is a fund-raiser <br />for the Cindy Mathison Cancer Benefit. The event will be conducted <br />October 3, 1993 from Noon to 5:00 p.m. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Blanchard/Wuori to Adopt Resolution No. 4412 Approving <br />A Charitable Gambling Application for a One-Day, Off-Site Lawful <br />Gambling Permit for the Fridley Lion's Club <br />VOTE: 3 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />Roger Stigney, 8400 Eastwood Road, asked why the Council, <br />if they had an idea that no action would be taken on the Street Light <br />Utility and the Surface Water Management items, couldn't have placed <br />a message stating so on Cable TV. <br />Mayor Linke stated that with everything else going on, he didn't think <br />of running a message on Cable and that, it isn't his right, to assume. <br />that no action would be taken. <br />EPORTS <br />1. Report of Councilmembers: <br />Councilmember Blanchard - Commended the Boy Scouts for the work <br />they have done to enhance Mounds View and to obtain their Eagle <br />Scout awards. <br />Councilmember Wuori - Reminded everyone of the Special Election <br />on Tuesday, August 24 and announced that the polls would be open <br />from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Councilmember Wuori stated that Gity <br />Hall had been opened for a period of time on Saturday and Monday <br />for absentee voters and that some residents had taken advantage of <br />those hours. <br />2. Report of Mayor: <br />Mayor Linke Announced that staff and Council had been <br />negotiating with Everest Development for a TIF Project for <br />expansion of Multi Tech. The request was to purchase six acres of <br />land and increase the size of the building. The City received a <br />proposal from Everest for TIF and the City made a counter offer of <br />TIF based upon what the City could afford. The Purchase Agreement <br />that Multi Tech had with Everest was contingent upon obtaining TIF <br />from the City. Everest found the offer not sufficient and called <br />off the project. <br />
