Consideration of Providing Funding Assistance for Festival In <br />The Park Celebration Through the Transfer of 54,000 from_ <br />Contingency Fund to Professional Services <br />Sharie Linke, Parks and Recreation Administrative Assistant, <br />reported that she was speaking on behalf of the Festival In <br />The Park Committee to request funds in the amount of $4,000 <br />towards the operating expenses of the 1995 Festival In The <br />Park Celebration. <br />Ms. Linke introduced the following members of the Festival In <br />The Park Committee: Alice Frits, a representative of the <br />Mounds View Lioness Club and Chairperson. of the Concessions <br />Committee; Dru Dukart, representing Band Boosters and <br />Chairperson of the Parade Committee; Kathy Harrer, also from <br />the Band Boosters and on the Publicity Committee; Pat Michna, <br />a resident and Staff member who is Entertainment Chairperson <br />and on the Fund Raising Committee. <br />Ms. Linke explained that the Festival In The Park. Committee is <br />made up of 24 people who are representative of the Mounds View <br />businesses, non-profit organizations and residents. Their <br />goal is to present to the residents of Mounds View a <br />celebration, to bring people together and foster pride in the <br />community, and to spotlight Local businesses. The dates of <br />the 1995 Festival In The Park are July 8 and 9; however the <br />dates of the Festival week are July 3 through 9. Ms. Linke <br />specified the various activities scheduled for the Festival <br />week and the organizations that will be sponsoring .those <br />activities. She also reported the funding sources for the <br />Festival, stressing the need for the funds from the City to be <br />used for operating expenses. <br />Councilmember Blanchard commented that it appeared to be a <br />great Festival.. <br />MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Trude to Provide Funding Assistance for <br />Festival In The Park Celebration Through the Transfer of <br />$4,000 from Contingency Fund to Professional Services <br />• VOTE: 4 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried <br />
