MOUNDS VIEW CHARTER COMMISSION MINUTES <br /> 410Meeting March 9, 2000 <br /> . Call to Order - The meeting was called to order by Chair J. Olsen, <br /> at 7 : 00 p.m. at the Mounds View Community Center, as posted. <br /> 2 . Roll Call - Present - J. Olsen, J. Miller, B. Doty, R. Stigney, <br /> B. Laube, M. Malrick, J. Thomas , B. Werner <br /> Absent - R. Marty, R. Oman, M. Grommesh, R. Smieja, <br /> K. MacRunnels <br /> 3 . Approval of Minutes - Motion B. Laube, second R. Stigney to approve <br /> the minutes of February 10, 2000. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL <br /> 4. Reports of Chair <br /> B. Haake introduced a bill in the legislature that council members <br /> not serve on charter commissions . <br /> J. Olsen reported from Faircy, charter commission attorney, that <br /> if a charter commission resolution is not accepted by the city and <br /> the commission wants to put it on a ballot , it can' t be submitted <br /> earlier than 6 months before the general election or it would have <br /> to go to a special election. <br /> 5 . Reports of members or committees <br /> B. Doty reported that L. Runbeck is willing to work on the Senate <br /> • side to increase funding for charter commissions . <br /> J. Thomas <br /> reported that hundreds of charters from around the country <br /> are available on-line; an excellent source of material . <br /> 6 . Unfinished Business <br /> There has been no response to Resolutions 2000-01 , 02, 03 ,04 or <br /> to the letter regarding term limits which have been submitted to <br /> the city. <br /> Review of Resolution 2000-05 under Section 2 . 07 Compensation, <br /> Subsectiors 1 and 2 . <br /> Motion B. Laube, second J. Thomas to approve resolution 2000-05 <br /> as amended including striking old language and underlining new <br /> language. UNANIMOUS APPROVAL <br /> Motion J. Olsen, second B. Doty regarding Resolution 2000-05 <br /> under BE IT RESOLVED add the following: "If the City Council does .. <br /> not wish to adopt this resolution by an unanimous vote, the <br /> Charter Commission hereby requests that the above amendment be <br /> placed on the ballot at the next general election under Minnesota <br /> Statues 410. 12 Subdivision 1 . " <br /> After discussion J. Olsen and B. Doty rescinded the motion and <br /> second . <br /> 1111 Motion J. Thomas, second B. Laube to submit Resolution 2000-05 <br /> as is . If there is no response from the Council then resubmit <br /> in June asking for:: a: special election. <br /> After discussion, J. Thomas and B. Laube rescinded the motion <br /> and second . <br />
