CONSENT AGENDA:
MOTION/SECOND: Quick/Stigney to Approve the Consent Agenda as presented.
VOTE: 5 ayes 0 nays Motion Carried
6. RESIDENTS REQiIESTS AND COMMENTS FROM THE FLOOR:
Mayor McCarty explained that this is the time for residents to address the council with concerns on items
that are not on the Agenda.
Cameron Obert, 8315 Greenwood Drive, noted that he believes the city has done things in the past year
that are steps in the right direction, however decisions need to be made on issues in a timely fashion and
the council needs to move on. He noted the importance of getting the community center completed on
schedule as well as his concerns about the continual changes brought to the city from the contractors and
architect.
Mr. Obert stated he is also concerned about the test scores of the students at Edgewood Middle School.
He asked Mayor McCarty to inquire with the Mounds View School District as to why the scores are so
much lower than at Highview and Chippewa. Mayor McCarty stated the School Board would be
interested in hearing these comments and concerns, noting that everyone is concerned about the success of
the students.
Dan Mueller, 8343 Groveland Road, noted that he came before the council several months ago to address a
traffic speed problem on Groveland Road. He noted that for a short period after his complaint, things
seemed to have improved. However, he feels the problem has resurfaced and is concerned about the
safety of the children.
Mayor McCarty stated he would talk with the Police Chief to see if the city can implement a "No
Tolerance" policy for speed violators in Mounds View.
Robert Marty, 2626 Louisa Avenue, asked about the status of the proposed townhome project on County
Road H2 and Greenwood/Long Lake Road. Mayor McCarty stated he believes that the developer would
need to approach the Planning Commission to discuss a zoning change in order to proceed and at this point
no decision has been made. Residents in the area will be notified in the event that it comes before the
council.
Mr. Marty also asked what additional approvals need to be obtained for the proposed theater project on
Highway 10. Mayor McCarty noted that the developer would need to go through the fmal step process.
The only thing that has been done to this point is the conceptual approval. Final decisions will be based
upon the fmal plans. Mr. Jopke, Community Development Director, noted that the developer is putting
together the fmal plans and he anticipated that they will be submitted in March for consideration by the
Planning Commission and City Council in April.
