IPolicies Agencies may have a policy regarding certain traffic safety requests that can be referenced prior to taking any evaluation steps. While not every agency has a policy in place, this section can help identify policy benefits and drawbacks. It is important to ensure the policy is adopted by the highest level governing body within the agency to reduce potential fault. Policies should maintain compliance with guidance in the MMUTCD, to maintain uniformity across jurisdictions. Additionally, ensure each policy has accurate and up to date supporting documentation and addresses why the policy is in place. If possible, include language to allow for engineering judgment when applying policies.
