<br />Item No: 5.C. <br />Meeting Date: August 13, 2018 <br />Type of Business: Consent Agenda <br />Administrator review: ______ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Rayla Sue Ewald, Human Resource Coordinator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8995, Approving Jon Sevald Promotion to <br />Community Development Director <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The City Council discussed promoting Jon Sevald from City Planner/Supervisor to <br />Community Development Director during the May 21, 2018 Retreat. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br />Mr. Sevald started working at the City of Mounds View on February 2, 2016 as the City <br />Planner. On August 26, 2017 Mr. Sevald was promoted to City Planner/Supervisor. In the <br />capacity of City Planner/Supervisor, Mr. Sevald has surpassed the job expectations and <br />has been performing duties more in line with the Community Development Director job <br />description. <br /> <br />Mr. Sevald has a wealth of knowledge in Community Development and additionally has a <br />Master’s Degree in Public Administration. Mr. Sevald is a valued employee at the City of <br />Mounds View. Staff feels Mr. Sevald should be promoted to Community Development <br />Director and a wage increase to $40.39 per hour is appropriate. Mr. Sevald’s current rate <br />of pay is $35.45. <br /> <br /> <br />Step 1 Step 1.5 Step 2 Step 3 Step 4 Step 5 <br />$40.39 $41.65 $42.91 $45.44 $47.96 $50.49 <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends the Council approve the promotion of Mr. Sevald to Community <br />Development Director effective August 26, 2018. Staff additionally recommends that Mr. <br />Sevald start at Step 1 of the 2018 Compensation Plan and observe a six month <br />probationary period.
