Item No: 5H <br /> Meeting Date: August 13, 2018 <br />Type of Business: CA <br />Administrator Review: ____ <br /> <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Public Works Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8997 Approving Electrical Circuits for Fitness <br />Equipment at the Community Center <br />Background: <br />Public Works Staff has met with the YMCA Staff members regarding building alterations <br />and maintenance needs for the Community Center. Staff has meet with vendors and <br />contractors in order to obtain quotes for the building alterations and maintenance needs. <br />These building alterations were then presented to the YMCA Advisory Committee to <br />gain input and further direction was decided to move forward with projects. During the <br />2018 budget process the City Council was presented with the projects and approved <br />moving forward also. <br /> <br />The March 26, 2018 City Council meeting included expanding the fitness center to <br />accommodate for the new fitness equipment. The fitness equipment required a <br />dedicated power source. <br /> <br />Discussion: <br />Staff contacted Muska Electric to provide a proposal for installing the needed electric <br />power and dedicated circuits, before this proposal could be approved by the City <br />Council the contractor started the installation. The contractor was asked to finish the <br />work and these items would be brought to the City Council for formal approval. The cost <br />for the electrical installation is $4,975.00, funding for this repair would be from 252- <br />4350-5110. <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends the Council approve the costs for the installation of electrical and <br />dedicated circuits for the new fitness equipment at the Community Center. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br />Don Peterson <br />Public Works Director <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
