Item No: 8B <br /> Meeting Date: August 13, 2018 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />Administrator Review: ____ <br /> <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Don Peterson, Public Works Director <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9000, Approving the Purchase of (2) Hi-E Dry <br />Dehumidifiers for Water Treatment Plant 1 <br /> <br />Background/Discussion: <br />The Public Works Department has many responsibilities and one is to efficiently operate <br />the water distribution system. <br /> <br />In each of the water treatment plants are dehumidifiers. These dehumidifiers are <br />required to keep the heavy moisture out of the electronic controls and equipment that is <br />used to properly run the water system. At Water Treatment Plant 1 there are two of <br />these industrial dehumidifiers called Hi-E Dry, both of these units have failed, the units <br />are over ten years, and the repair costs exceed the return on investment. <br /> <br />Staff has received two quotes for replacement Hi-E Dry units: <br />USA Bluebook $3,427.95 each plus shipping costs <br />Sylvane $3,427.95 each with no shipping costs <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends the purchase of (2) Hi-E Dry dehumidifiers from Sylvane at a cost of <br />$3,427.95 each for a total of $6,855.90, shipping included, to be funded from Water <br />Department 700-4823-1250. <br /> <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br />Don Peterson <br />Public Works Director <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
