<br />Item No: 5.C. <br />Meeting Date: August 27, 2018 <br />Type of Business: Council Consent <br />Administrator review: _______ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Rayla Sue Ewald, Human Resources Coordinator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9001, Approving Severance for Brian Sawyer, <br />Police Officer <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Brian Sawyer has resigned from his position effective August 1, 2018. Mr. Sawyer has <br />been employed by the City for four (4) months (March 19, 2018). Attached is <br />Resolution 9001, which authorizes severance to Mr. Sawyer in accordance with the <br />City’s Personnel Manual. <br /> <br />Discussion <br /> <br />Section 3.47 of the personnel manual provides for payout of unused vacation and <br />comp-time hours. Employees with less than two years of service are not eligible for <br />payout of sick time hours. Mr. Sawyer resigned with 29.88 hours of vacation. Mr. <br />Sawyer had less than two (2) years of service so is not eligible for sick time payout. <br />There was no comp time balance. <br /> <br />The following represents severance eligible to Mr. Sawyer: <br /> <br /> Hours Hourly rate Payout <br />Vacation Hours 29.88 $25.66 $766.72 Cash Payout <br />Total Severance: $766.72 <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends approval of Resolution 9001 authorizing severance to Brian Sawyer <br />pursuant to the Mounds View Personnel Manual. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />_______________________ <br />Rayla Sue Ewald <br />Human Resources Coordinator <br />
