MovNns ViEw <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />Item No: B.C. <br />Meeting Date: July 9, 2018 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />Administrator Review: <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Rayla Sue Ewald, Human Resources Coordinator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8985, Approving Hire of Jennifer Nelson to the <br />position of Receptionist/AV Support <br />Background <br />Our current Receptionist Kerrie Kane is transitioning to the position of Utility Billing Clerk <br />due to the upcoming retirement of Debbie Jasper, Payroll/Utility Billing Technician. In <br />order to allow time for training of a new Receptionist and Ms. Kane's transition into her <br />new position effective October 1, 2018, an external recruitment process began on June <br />4, 2018 based on approval of Resolution 8972, Approving the Revised Job Description <br />for Receptionist. <br />Discussion <br />A posting based on the job description was published for 10 working days on the Cities <br />web site, the League of Minnesota Cities, and indeed.com. Sixty (60) applications were <br />received by the deadline. The applications were scored and five (5) individuals were <br />interviewed by the Finance Director, City Planner, and the Human Resources <br />Coordinator. The top two (2) candidates were invited back for a second interview on <br />July 3rd, and met with the Permit Technician, Cable Television Coordinator, and the <br />Human Resources Coordinator. <br />The candidate selected to fill the Receptionist/AV Support position is Jennifer Nelson. <br />Ms. Nelson has the necessary qualifications for the position and has accepted the <br />conditional offer of employment. Ms. Nelson is in the process of completing the <br />required background requirements for employment. <br />Recommendation <br />The panel is recommending the City Council appoint Ms. Jennifer Nelson to the position <br />of Receptionist/AV Support starting on or about August 1, 2018.
