Creating an organizational structure which will blend with the current SBMFD structure <br />is paramount to identifying clear lines of authority, communication flow and organizational <br />parity (Appendix 1). Reorganization of the current FFD organizational structure will be <br />necessary. Major changes to the Paid-on-CallNolunteer structure would be the <br />addition/modification of the following positions at both FFD Fire Stations 1 and 2: <br />• Battalion Chief <br />• Captain <br />• Lieutenant <br />The full-time organizational structure would be modified and contain newly defined <br />positions which are positions currently identified within the SBMFD, except for the position of <br />Division Chief. The FFD Division Chief would oversee daily operations of the Fridley Division, <br />coordinating needs and communicating with both the SBMFD Assistant Chief of Operations and <br />Assistant Chief of Administration who provide oversight. <br />If this plan is accepted and implemented, all Fridley Fire Department positions will <br />become positions within and employed by the SBMFD and will no longer be employed by the <br />City of Fridley. This includes any volunteer/paid-on-call positions. All administrative/human <br />resource procedures/policies followed will be those of the SBMFD. <br />The City of Fridley Fire Department will remain in name the Fridley Fire Department, <br />however, apparatus colors, equipment, some apparatus insignia and other items will be changed, <br />as funding allows, to snatch current SBMFD equipment. Reporting structure with the City of <br />Fridley, yet to be determined. <br />Operational Deployment <br />The SBMFD is an operationally aggressive fire department, understanding that quickly <br />and effectively mitigation of our customer's problem is the best way to limit damage and reduce <br />the incidence of injury and death.
