Item No: 8J Meeting Date: September 10, 2018 Mo ,S vI�� 1' 1� Type of Business: CB Administrator Review:• City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Don Peterson, Public Works Director item Title/Subject: Resolution 9107, Approving Additional Expenses for Rest Room/Mechanical Building for the Splash Pad at City Hall Park Background/Discussion: City Council approved the installation of a new Play Ground and Splash Pad at City Hall Park. Material and components of the splash pad have begun to arrive. The plumbing contractor inspected the pump and controls for the splash pad. Upon review of the equipment, it was discovered that the proposed building size, to house the equipment, would not be adequate for the pump and controls. Staff along with the contractors, have reviewed and discussed the situation with the manufacture of the pump and controls to determine what options would be optimal. It was agreed that an increased building size from a 20'x20' to 20'X26' would remedy the equipment housing situation. Minnesota/Wisconsin Playground is the main contractor and worked with both the manufacture of the pump and controls and the building supplier to resolve this issue at the lowest financial impact to the City. The increased cost of the larger building will be $17,335.00 along with $11,956.00 for concrete, labor and freight; totaling $29,291.00. Recommendation: Accept the proposal from Minnesota Wisconsin Playground for the revised building expansion at a cost of $17,335.00 along with $11,956.00 for concrete, labor and freight; totaling $29,291.00 to be funded from account 480-4470-7050.
