RESOLUTION NO. 7145 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING AONE-YEAR MORATORIUM ON BOXING AND MIX <br />MARTIAL ARTS/ULTIMATE FIGHTING EVENTS <br />WHEREAS, Staff has been informed that the Minnesota State Boxing <br />Commission has been reinstated; and <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Boxing Commission was created by the 2006 <br />Legislature, and it responsible for the sole direction, supervision, regulation, control and <br />jurisdiction over all boxing and ultimate fighting contests held within the state; and <br />WHEREAS, Staff was given direction by the City Council to draft a One Year <br />Moratorium Resolution to postpone any boxing or mixed martial arts/ultimate fighting <br />activities/events in the City of Mounds View; and <br />WHEREAS, this One Year Moratorium would give Staff and the City Council time <br />to review the processes and policies as outlined by the Minnesota State Boxing <br />Commission, and ensure that these policies are being followed; and <br />WHEREAS, this One Year Moratorium shall be in effect one year after adoption <br />of this Resolution. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mounds View City Council <br />approve this On-Year Moratorium on Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts/Ultimate Fighting <br />events in the City of Mounds View effective one year after adoption of this Resolution. <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that City Staff will provide a <br />report to update the Mounds View City Council on these types events prior to the <br />expiration of this One Year Moratorium. <br />Adopted this~27~h day of August, 2007. <br />Rob TVlarty, Mayor <br />/~~ <br />Ku//rt Ulrich, City Administrator <br />
