RESOLUTION 7214 <br />CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br />COUNTY OF RAMSEY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE REPLACEMENT OF AN OUTDOOR WARNING <br />SIREN <br />WHEREAS, the condition of the City's civil defense sirens were reviewed in 2006. The sirens were all over <br />20 years old and none of them had battery back ups, so the city adopted a plan to replace all three of it's <br />sirens with new models with battery back up systems, and; <br />WHEREAS, the city has replaced two of the sirens with Federal 2001- 130 models and has planned and <br />budgeted for the replacement of the last of the old sirens which is located on City Hall Property out of the <br />special project funds for 2008, and; <br />WHEREAS, Ready Watt Electric, and Federal Warning systems both submitted quotes for replacing the <br />siren with a Federal 2001 (the most purchased siren in the industry) siren which is a rotating siren which <br />covers a 5,400 feet radius, and; <br />WHEREAS, the quote from Ready Watt Electric is $15,749 and the quote from Federal Warning Systems is <br />$16,178 (both quotes include tax.) <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council for the City of Mounds View authorizes the <br />purchase and installation of a replacement warning siren from Ready Watt Electric in the amount of $15,749 <br />including tax from the special project fund. <br />Adopted this 28th day of January 2008. <br />ATTEST: <br />(seal) <br />Ro Marty, Mayor <br /> <br />Jim Ericson, Interim City Administrator <br />
