want more traffic on Woodale. Has an updated study been performed to see the speeds and count
on Woodale prior to this proposal? Woodale already has enough traffic traversing to and from Co.
Rd H and H2 from Mounds View Blvd to avoid the traffic congestion which does not include the
additional pressure from a new driveway. If anyone suggests the need for this driveway due to lot
count the lower lot has had only one drive for decades and has NEVER had a problem. The new
proposed lot is no different then the lower lot so the current driveways should be able to
accommodate the new parking lot. On paper this looks like a good idea but you are making the
residential an island surrounded by commercial and high traffic facilities and placing our part of the
community at a safety risk. As it is the speed limit is lower on Edgewood during school hours while
Woodale is still at full speed of 30MPH and now you want to add even more traffic without any
concerns to the residential affected by this proposal. You are also placing those accessing the tennis
court at risk crossing the parking lot and now 2 driveways to get to and from the island facility.
Again NOT a good idea, NO driveway on Woodale provide a safe walking access to the tennis courts
for the students.
DO NOT add a new driveway to Woodale Dr.
Also a concern why is the pool moving from the lower to the upper area? The Chlorine vented smel
will also be an issue as the winds often blow to the north now directly into the residential housing.
Sounds like another forced on the residential area without full notification. No one has been aware
that the variance approval for the new addition and parking lot are going to be followed by the
Woodale driveway variance notice. Pretty deceptive to not include it on this notice, especially when
it is already known that it will be impacted with another variance.
Regards,
Mark
From: Jon Sevald[mailtoon.sevald(&moundsviewmn.org]
Sent: Monday, November 05, 2018 8:28 AM
To: 'mgavett'
Cc: Nyle Zikmund
Subject: RE: Questions aon Edgewood Middle School public hearing notice
Mark,
Your emails will be provided to the Planning Commission.
The additions onto the school require three approvals; (1) Variance to parking lot setback, (2)
Administrative Variance to driveway width, and (3) Development Review. The Variances require
Public Hearings, but the Development Review does not. No public notices are provided for items
that do not require a Public Hearing.
A Development Review is a comparison of the proposed plans to City Code requirements. The
project will include a driveway at the intersection of Woodale Dr and Greenfield Ave. I believe that
