The Mounds View Vision A Thriving Desirable Community Item No: 8E Meeting Date: June 10, 2019 Type of Business: Council Business Administrator Review: ____ City of Mounds View Staff Report To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Don Peterson, Public Works Director Item Title/Subject: Resolution 9124 Approving the Replacement of Roof Top Unit #4 at City Hall Background: The compressor and fan failed for the City Hall Roof Top Unit #4, (RTU #4) on June 6, 2019. RTU #4 provides cooling to the Police Administration and Office Area. This unit is 21 years old and past the year for recommended replacement. Staff has received a quote from Trane Building Services to replace the unit and program into the BAS system. The Quote includes new curb adapter, lifting the new unit onto the roof and disposing of the old unit along with programing into the BAS system, The total quote from Trane is $13,000. This expense is not in the 2019 budget. Staff met with the Finance Director to determine a funding source for the replacement. A budget adjustment of $13,000 to the Special Project Fund account 480-4180-7030 is required in order to make the necessary replacement of RTU #4. Strategic Plan Strategy/Goal: Maintain and Plan for Infrastructure Improvements. Financial Impact: Budget Adjustment is needed for $13,000, is required to the 2019 Budget, in the Special Project Fund, account 480-4180-7030 for this needed repair. Recommendation: Staff recommends approving the quotes from Trane Building Services to replace and install RTU #4 at City Hall for a total of $13,000, Staff also recommends the City Council approve a 2019 Budget adjustment of $13,000 to the Special Project Funds account 480-4180-7030 in order to make the needed repairs and replacement of RTU #4.
