It is a critical component of a safe and <br />efficient roadway system. By limiting access points on highways, potential conflicts <br />may be reduced. Access management is important to balancing automotive <br />mobility with access to local properties. As discussed above, access is limited on <br />higher mobility roadways such as Principal Arterials, while local streets provide <br />increased access and decreased mobility. Standards are listed in Table 5-1. <br />Table 5-1: Summary of Recommended Street Spacing for Non-IRCs, MnDOT <br />Access Management Manual <br /> <br />Complete Streets <br />The City is committed to providing a transportation network that is safe and <br />supportive of all users, in- or outside of motor vehicles. <br />As the use of alternative modes of transportation rise locally and regionally, the <br />City will study the feasibility of allocating more space on the roads for slower <br />moving traffic with a primary focus on pedestrian comfort and safety. <br />The City also recognizes that residents’ mode choice is partially dependent on the <br />type of infrastructure in place. The City will continue to study options for improving <br />sidewalk, bikeways, and transit facilities as a catalyst for increasing use of <br />alternative modes of transportation. <br />
