Mounds View City Council <br />Regular Meeting <br />July 8, 2019 <br />Page 7 <br />1 <br />2 Mayor Mueller commented on a response she received from the City of Virginia Beach and <br />3 encouraged Council Member Bergeron to read the response in full for the record. <br />4 <br />5 Mayor Mueller stated Mounds View had a high-speed police chase yesterday during the evening <br />6 hours. She explained numerous squads were involved. She commended K-9 Gris for assisting <br />7 with bringing the suspect in. She indicated an officer and the suspect were recovering at this <br />8 time. <br />9 <br />10 B. Reports of Staff. <br />11 <br />12 Public Works Director Peterson updated the Council on the street project noting the Fire <br />13 Department and Silver View Park parking lots were completed. He explained the City Hall <br />14 remodel work would begin in mid -August and would take six weeks to complete. He <br />15 commented some of the splash pad fixtures were completed today. <br />16 <br />17 Public Works Director Peterson indicated he had received zero interest from the public regarding <br />18 volunteers to assist with planning Veterans Memorial Park. He requested this issue be referred to <br />19 the Park, Recreation and Forestry Commission. The Council supported this recommendation. <br />20 <br />21 Public Works Director Peterson commented he received interest from two residents and two <br />22 Council Members to assist with the GreenStep Cities program. <br />23 <br />24 Council Member Gunn supported staff moving forward with this program with the resident <br />25 volunteers. <br />26 <br />27 Finance Director Beer thanked Vanessa VanAlstine for all of her efforts on behalf of the City. <br />28 The Council offered Vanessa a round of applause. <br />29 <br />30 City Administrator Zikmund stated Bridget from the New Brighton Bulletin would be writing a <br />31 story on the pollinator gardens at City Hall. <br />32 <br />33 City Administrator Zikmund provided the Council with a draft of the letter that would be sent to <br />34 the Judge within the Second Judicial District, regarding the Charter Commission members. He <br />35 noted he drafted the letter and it was reviewed by City Attorney Scott Riggs. He recommended a <br />36 copy of the letter be forwarded to the Second Judicial District Judge and Charter Commission <br />37 once finalized. He asked for a response or comments from the Council regarding the letter. The <br />38 Council supported the letter as drafted by staff. <br />39 <br />40 Mayor Mueller noted the next meeting of the Charter Commission, with Brandon Clausen acting <br />41 as the Chair would be on Tuesday, July 16tn <br />42 <br />43 City Administrator Zikmund reported he attended a Metro Cities meeting today that focused on <br />44 Government and Transportation. <br />45 <br />
