Mounds View City Council August 12, 2019 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br /> <br />explained the County continued their work on Long Lake Road and information on this project <br />was available on Ramsey County’s webpage. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Peterson indicated staff has received concerns regarding the amount of <br />parking that was occurring on Edgewood Drive for people visiting the splash pad. He indicated <br />the Council could consider eliminating parking on the east side of the street. Further discussion <br />ensued regarding the parking situation surrounding the splash pad. The Council supported the <br />elimination of parking on the east side of Edgewood. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Peterson explained a portion of the playground equipment that was at City <br />Hall Park would be relocated to Random Park. <br /> <br /> i. 1st and 2nd Quarter Police Report <br /> <br />Police Chief Harder reviewed the 1st and 2nd Quarter Police report with the Council. He <br />explained arrests and traffic stops were up given the fact the Mounds View Police Department <br />now had a full-time traffic officer. He commented on the benefits of the VCET team’s <br />intelligence. He discussed the numerous community outreach events the Police Department had <br />scheduled and he thanked his officers for participating in the Special Olympics Torch Run. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller requested the 1st and 2nd Quarter Police reports be posted on the City’s website. <br />Police Chief Harder explained this would be done and the information would be made available <br />to the public. <br /> <br />Mayor Mueller discussed how busy the department’s K-9 officers have been this year and <br />commended each officer for their great work on behalf of the community. Police Chief Harder <br />stated he was extremely proud of both of the department’s handlers and K-9’s. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund reported the Council would be holding a strategic planning retreat <br />on Monday, August 19th at Random Park at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />City Administrator Zikmund explained the comment period on the Tobacco 21 Ordinance would <br />expire in two weeks, on August 20th. <br /> <br />Theresa Cermak provided the Council with an update on the events the Police Foundation would <br />be running at Festival in the Park. She explained this group would be in charge of bingo and <br />other children’s games. She indicated she was still seeking volunteers to assist with Festival in <br />the Park. She noted she would be retiring from the Festival in the Park Committee after 26 years <br />of service to the community. The Council offered Ms. Cermak a round of applause and thanked <br />her for her dedicated service to the City. <br /> <br />C.
